Prevent suicide. Talking can help!

10,000 people commit suicide in Germany every year. They don't know how to endure life any longer. Every week, the Bode Museum is visited by a person who could take his or her own life in that same year. What can we do to prevent this?

More than 2000 artworks in the Bode Museum’s collection present the life experiences of artists over 1000 years. Now the Bode Museum has entered into a cooperation with the Berliner Krisendienst to help people in existential need to overcome their life crisis. A museum facing up to its social responsibility.

In short interviews, curators talk about objects that offer help in times of trouble and what these works of art meant to them in their own personal crises. What happens when a person gets into a crisis that may even be life-threatening? Experts working with the social organisations U25 and Neuhland, psychologists and social workers talk about crises. They explain what happens, when you get into a life-threatening crisis and  how to get out of it.

What can each of us do to help a person who wants to take their own life?
