Seven of the Bode Museum's curators and restorers present their favourite objects and talk about difficulties they have experienced in their own lives. They explain how a work of art can help to overcome small and big crises; even those that seem insumortable.
In his youth, Pope Alexander VII was a wanderer between cities, a migrant. The Hungarian Lilla Mátyók-Engel, who has been working as an art historian in Germany for many years, is also a migrant. In a foreign city, she says, the simplest situation can turn into a crisis. I need to make a phone call - but... can I do that if I don't understand the language? Lilla Mátyók-Engel shares her ways of dealing with such situations.
