Bode-Museum
The special exhibition was conceived and curated by sixth grade students of the Grunewald Elementary School in Berlin. They were responsible for everything relevant to organising a museum exhibition, from choosing a topic to selecting the sculptures and designing its layout.
The guiding questions that led to the exhibition concept were:
Which topics are children currently interested in and which of them should be addressed in a museum?
How should an exhibition be designed to attract young people?
At whose eye level should the exhibits be displayed?
The students selected 13th to 17th century animal sculptures from the Bode-Museum’s collections to draw attention to topics relevant to them. Their key concerns were climate change, animal welfare, species extinction, environmental pollution and the destruction of animal habitats.
