Gail Rothschild
Gail Rothschild. Portraits of Ancient Tapestries from Egypt

01.07.2022 to 31.10.2022
Bode-Museum

In 2022, the Bode-Museum will pay special attention to women and their role in art and society. As part of the integrated exhibition The Second Glance: Women, which opened in late October 2021, the museum will host a special exhibition by New York artist Gail Rothschild from summer 2022.

Egyptian tapestries from the Museum für Byzantinische Kunst’s rich textile collection are the source of inspiration for Rothschild’s new series of monumental paintings. Placed alongside the original ancient textiles, a fascinating dynamic emerges between testimonies of a past culture and contemporary artistic creation. This will be the first time Rothschild’s works have been displayed in Germany.
