As of right now, interested viewers can discover the fascinating collections and museums on the Museumsinsel (Museum Island) via its Instagram account. This channel features exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into art, culture and history straight from the centre and heart of Berlin.

The Museumsinsel Berlin is now on Instagram! On the new channel, everything revolves around the collections, exhibitions, people and architecture from the iconic museums in the heart of Berlin: the Alte Nationalgalerie, Altes Museum, Neues Museum, Bode-Museum, Pergamonmuseum, as well as the James-Simon-Galerie and the Pergamonmuseum – Das Panorama. Like other Staatliche Museen zu Berlin channels, in terms of content, it focuses on current topics and events, object highlights, exhibitions and exciting views behind the scenes.

The museums on Museum Island encompass countless facets of human cultural history. They house works spanning from the Stone Age, the prehistoric period and Ancient Egypt at the Neues Museum, to Greek and Roman Classical Antiquity at the Altes Museum, the past cultures of the Ancient Near East and Islamic cultural history at the Pergamonmuseum, to Byzantine, Medieval Art and the exceptional coin collections (numismatics) at the Bode-Museum, and conclude with the art of the “long 19th century” at the Alte Nationalgalerie. Moreover, 20th-century provenance histories are elucidated in the Zentralarchiv (Central Archive), directly adjacent to Museum Island. And Haus Bastian, located along the Kupfergraben, serves as a bridge to address our time’s most relevant topics and issues.

All this and much more can now be found via the new museum channel on Instagram: @museumsinselberlin
