Neue Nationalgalerie
Berlin’s cultural institutions are jointly spreading the call for assistance with a fundraising campaign to help those who have fled from Ukraine and arrived in Berlin. The Neue Nationalgalerie will remain open as a place of vigil and meeting point from noon on Saturday, 5 March, until midnight on Sunday, 6 March.
This whole weekend, the upper exhibition hall in Mies van der Rohe’s Neue Nationalgalerie is transformed into a social space for assistance, exchange and communication. The main objective is to raise donations. At the same time, the hall is intended to be a meeting point – encouraging social dialogue, coexistence and solidarity in these uncertain times. An “open mike” will offer people the chance to share music, literature and their thoughts. Visual artists, musicians and actors have announced their willingness to participate. Other contributions, including spontaneous ones, are welcome.
The Our Space to Help action is being held in the Neue Nationalgalerie’s upper exhibition hall, without closing, from noon Saturday, 5 March, to midnight on Sunday, 6 March. Admission is free to the museum’s upper level throughout the event; timed tickets are not required.
The 2 Day, 2 Night Vigil was initiated and developed as a public invitation to all of Berlin’s cultural institutions, artists and residents by Klaus Biesenbach, in close collaboration with Anne Imhof and Olafur Eliasson, together with his studio team, artists and a large group of colleagues at the Neue Nationalgalerie and Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz.
The donation event is taking place in cooperation with “Be an Angel e. V.” Visitors to the Neue Nationalgalerie are called upon to make the following donations at the museum:
Financial donations
Power banks / smartphone batteries
Mobile WIFI hotspots
Other donations cannot be accepted.
