Research

The Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection puts great importance on international research. For this reason, it is involved in numerous research projects, as well as developing various inventory catalogues and carrying out an excavation in Upper Egypt. Support for the international research project ELEPHANTINE comes from European Research Council (ERC), while the German Research Foundation (DFG) provides backing for a digitalization project.

Within the context of Berlin’s research institutions, the ÄMP is associated with the Freie Universität and the Humboldt-Universität, as well as TOPOI, the excellence cluster. The collection is regularly used by international visiting scholars on a variety of research projects. In addition to all of this, the collection is also a participant in scholarly and scientific exchange between Germany and the Arab world.
