Neues Museum
On 30 November 2024 numerous cultural and recreational organisations are taking part in the Berlin-wide ‟Berlin Says Thank You!” event. With this activity day, the Berlin Senate and the Berlin House of Representatives, together with partners, are expressing their appreciation for all Berliners who volunteer.
The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin are participating in the activity day with two free guided tours (in German) through the Neues Museum on the Museumsinsel Berlin. Cultural mediators from the Multaka project guide visitors through the collection presentation of the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung (Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection).
The project “Multaka: Museum as Meeting Point” promotes intercultural dialogue through the active cultural participation of people with migration and refugee experience. At the Neues Museum, the Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung invites visitors to discover over four millennia of ancient Egyptian history and the fascinating culture of ancient Sudan. The focus is on themes such as continuity and change. Multaka offers a platform for experiencing cultural heritage as a bridge between different cultures.
