Museum Europäischer Kulturen
What turns an everyday item into a special object, which evokes emotions and memories? The lives of many people are shaped by departing and arriving, by saying goodbye and welcoming . . . and the numerous states in-between. Alongside the people, who accompany us, it is mainly the things, which connect past, present and future like a common thread.
Very often things inside the museum have lost their personal stories, because nobody recorded them when they arrived here. In a current project people from Berlin have engaged themselves with the things of our collection and told us their own object stories.
And what are your things of life?
A project as part of the initiative “Hauptsache Publikum!? Das besucherorientierte Museum” of the Deutscher Museumsbund, funded by the Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien (BKM).
