Language Families

Humboldt Forum

As part of the “Family” theme cluster, a temporary presentation on the subject of Language Families has been set up. The manuscripts on display showcase the linguistic diversity of the finds from the Turfan collection. Languages represented include those from the Indo-European family (Sanskrit, Tocharian, etc.), the Sino-Tibetan language family (Chinese, Tibetan, Tangut), the Turkic language family (Old Turkic), the Mongolian language family, and the Afro-Asiatic language family (Syro-Aramaic) are represented.

Curator

The alternating presentation is curated by Lu Tian, assistant curator, Museum für Asiatische Kunst, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
