With support from the Italian Cultural Institute in Berlin
The Kunstgewerbemuseum proudly presents around 200 selected pieces of jewellery from 126 renowned designers and jewellers. The comparison between traditional and modern techniques and materials clearly shows how deeply rooted Italian jewellery design of the present day is in the tradition of Italian handcrafts. The use of the most diverse forms of jewellery and materials, variously handed down from one age to the next, such as corals and filigree jewellery, micromosaics and volcanic stone have all been reinterpreted by artists, designers, goldsmiths and jewellers. Well-known contemporary designers and architects, such as Giampaolo Babetto, Andrea Branzi, Sandra Di Giacinto, Alessandro Mendini, Gaetano Pesce and Ettore Sottsass feature alongside major brands such as BVLGARI and Breil.
