The Kunstgewerbemuseum once again presents German Design Graduates – this year, due to the pandemic, in a double exhibition of the classes of 2020 and 2021. More than 80 positions from the last two years, selected by a renowned jury of experts in the field, are on view, showing works from 15 of the best German design colleges.
German Design Graduates is a platform that presents, discusses and supports design attitudes of graduates at German universities. The initiative was launched in 2019 by Prof. Ineke Hans (UdK Berlin), Prof. Hermann Weizenegger (FH Potsdam), Prof. Mark Braun (HBK Saar) and Katrin Krupka (Design M.A.; visiting professor). The diverse forms that design takes are featured on our online Graduates platform.
At the same time, German Design Graduates organises an annual exhibition with a selection of recent graduation projects for an open and professional audience. Through the Matchmaking, Awards and Support programmes, German Design Graduates brings graduates together with representatives from culture and industry who select young designers for individual mentoring and coaching programmes. Ambassadors from the fields of culture, praxis, press, presentation and perspectives also present awards to outstanding graduates. As part of the German Design Graduates, 2021 exhibition, Design Talks will take place to discuss new attitudes about design.
