The exhibition 'Europe at the Border: East Odra West Oder' is the result of a student research project of the Institute of European Ethnology at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Dominican monastery in Prenzlau, in cooperation with the 'Institut für Kunst und Kontext' of the Universität der Künste Berlin and the Museum Europäischer Kulturen in Berlin.
Students examined cultural experience in a German-Polish border area, geographically marked by the river known as the Oder to Germans and the Odra to Poles. The exhibition offers insight into the different Polish and German cultures of housing, and leads on into reflections on the history and future of the European Union. It encourages visitors to look beyond their own borders, to see both the foreign and the familiar with a fresh eye.
