Dutch Drawings and Prints from the Sammlung Christoph Müller in Berlin's Kupferstichkabinett

27.06.2008 to 19.10.2008

Kupferstichkabinett

This exhibition presents the collection of Dutch drawings and prints, which Christoph Müller, former publisher of the Schwäbisches Tagblatt newspaper, kindly donated to the Kupferstichkabinett in the summer of 2007.

As a result of the collector's magnanimous gesture, 240 drawings by Dutch and Flemish masters from the 17th and 18th centuries as well as 130 prints and a number of series of prints from the 16th and 17th centuries fell into the hands of the Kupferstichkabinett, thus giving an important boost to its world-renowned collection of works by Dutch artists. In all, the drawings comprise characteristic works by relatively well known and some lesser-known masters, some of whom had previously not yet featured in our collection. The copper engravings and etchings now fill several gaps in the collection of similar works lost in the War. A selection of 80 drawings and around 40 prints will be on display in the exhibition.
