Museum für Asiatische Kunst
Comprising 200 artists and nearly 400 objects, Klaus F. Naumann’s collection of East Asian art is one of the main attractions of the museum. With a gallery of its own that presents a regularly changing selection of works, the collection has particular highlights in the fields of Japanese painting and lacquer art.
This seasonal selection focuses on images and objects that present as themes the joyous and melancholy sides of autumnal nature and the transition, accompanied by snowfall, into the changing of the year. Together with images of chrysanthemums, autumn leaves and chestnuts, a pair of six-sided folding screens on which evergreen pine trees disappear under a thick blanket of snow marks the end of the natural cycle.
