Gemäldegalerie
An exhibition presented by the Kupferstichkabinett, held in the Gemäldegalerie's special 'closet for works on paper'.
Albrecht Altdorfer is one of the great artists of the Renaissance in Germany. The panel painter and miniaturist, draughtsman and printmaker created an array of works of seminal importance for German art in the early 16th century. Born in Regensburg, he is most widely associated with the 'invention of the landscape' in German art.
Closely tied in with the display of panel paintings in Gemäldegalerie, the Kupferstichkabinett now presents a selection of works on paper by this great counterpart and rival to Albrecht Dürer.
