The photographer, who spends periods of her life in Georgia, interviewed the inhabitants of a huge apartment block in the Varketili district of Tbilisi, Georgia's capital, using her camera to document their living conditions and life circumstances. Her project "Korpus 18" resulted in a book of the same name. In this exhibition, we meet ten of the families she interviewed; the nine floors of Block 18 are home to 126 families in all. Through her photographs and texts, Uta Beyer succeeds in conveying a direct and authentic insight into the everyday lives of these people. Visitors to the exhibition can learn much, not only about their stories and the circumstances of their lives, but also about the way they view the world.
