EVERYDAY LIFE. Paola Pivi, Bojan Šarčević, Florian Slotawa

24.05.2014 to 10.08.2014
Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart

On show for the first time at the Hamburger Bahnhof- Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin are three large-scale installations by Paola Pivi (*1971 in Milan), Bojan Šarčević (*1974 in Belgrade) and Florian Slotawa (*1972 in Rosenheim), which joined the collection in 2010 as part of a larger body of works on permanent loan from the Haubrok Foundation. Thanks to this generous loan, thirteen works by internationally acclaimed artists of a younger generation have entered the Nationalgalerie Collection. Its holdings have thus been complemented by key works of contemporary art.

"Alicudi Project" (2001) by Paola Pivi, "Die Lieblingskleider die Männer und Frauen während ihrer Arbeit getragen haben" (1999/2000) by Bojan Šarčević and "Gesamtbesitz" (2002) by Florian Slotawa all pursue wholly singular artistic questions and aesthetic approaches. Each work stands alone within the presentation and generates its own, independent viewing space. Under the title "Everyday Life", however, the works inside the spacious interior of the Historische Halle also engage in a mutual dialogue. All three installations speak of the non-visible dimension that resides within their production process and which invites viewers to fill in the remaining blanks with their own imagination.

Everyday contexts that forge our sense of identity and our associated feeling of being at home somewhere are illuminated from three different perspectives and are thereby interrogated in their relocation to the context of an exhibition.
