Scotland faces the highest numbers of drug-related deaths in Europe; a problem that is especially felt in the deprived areas of the country. Darren McGarvey, also known by his stage name Loki, joins us in Berlin to talk about poverty and drug abuse in Scotland. In his book ‘Poverty Safari’ (2018), he criticised the social system in the United Kingdom and voiced the anger felt by many living in poverty around the country.

Interviewed by Dietmar Böhnke, research associate at the Institute for English Studies, University of Leipzig.
