The Sámi collection has a long and eventful history based on curiosity, exoticism and colonization. The significance of the collection today and how its objects should be handled in the future will be discussed:

  • Elisabeth Tietmeyer (Director of the MEK)
  • Veli-Pekka Lehtola (historian)
  • Anniina Turunen (Duodji mediator)
  • Sunna Kuoljok (curator) and
  • Eeva-Kristiina Nylander (provenance researcher)

The panel will be moderated by Sarah Fründt (German Lost Art Foundation). An event as part of the project “The Sámi Collection at the MEK”, funded by the German Lost Art Foundation.
