A Series in Cooperation with Deutsche Bank
Lina Lapelytė (born 1984 in Kaunas, Lithuania) combines music, performance, and installation in her work to create multi-layered stagings that explore physicality, community, and social roles. She often works with non-professional performers, developing poetic situations in which everyday gestures and voices merge into choreographed soundscapes.
She gained international recognition with the opera performance Sun & Sea (Marina), which was awarded the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2019. Lapelytė’s works move between concert, theater, and visual art, and have been presented at venues including Festival d’Automne/Bourse de Commerce (Paris), BAM (New York), and MOCA (Los Angeles).
On 1 May 2026, Lapelytė will open her exhibition CHANEL Commission: Lina Lapelytė. We Make Years Out of Hours at Hamburger Bahnhof, conceived specifically for the museum’s Historic Hall. The talk will take place as part of Hamburger Bahnhof’s special programme during Gallery Weekend Berlin.
