Lena Gorelik and Norbert Bisky
Crossroads#4 brings together writer Lena Gorelik and artist Norbert Bisky for a dialogue on the intersection of visual art and literature. Lena Gorelik writes novels, theatre and radio plays, essays and reportages. Her autobiographical novel ‘Wer wir sind’ (Who we are) shows identity in the dichotomy between pride and shame, stubbornness and adaptation, being a stranger and everything in between. ‘Wer wir sind’ also tells the story of how a woman finds herself—and who we are in today's Germany. The mostly male figures in Norbert Bisky's paintings are often in precarious positions—they fall, float in the air or hang upside down—and their unbound state is a formal expression of an existential situation. His works are represented in the collection of the Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart.
The discussion will be moderated by Janika Gelinek (Literaturhaus Berlin) and Mathilda Legemah (Hamburger Bahnhof – Nationalgalerie der Gegenwart).
