Real Middle Ages in Berlin? They still exist in the former excavation site on Petriplatz! Here lie the walls of a 700-year-old school and the lost St Peter's Church. What kind of school was it? What did the church look like and why is it important? What do the dead from the churchyard tell us? Together we trace features and finds, right back to the medieval beginnings of the town.
But how does one recognise archaeological finds and what happens after they have been excavated? We take a look at this upstairs in the workshops, where artefacts are cleaned, sorted and restored.
