Activities for Young People

The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin invites young people to participate in workshops and projects, and to bring their ideas and points of view into the museums.

One-day and multi-day workshops combine visits to exhibitions with hands-on artistic work. Young people discuss works of art and art-historical objects with their peers, exploring the background behind these works and examining how they relate to their own interests and lived environments. They also try out artistic forms of expression and creatively develop their own stance on what they experience.

Since 2014 the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin has sent youth groups into the museums with the mission to ‘Crack the Code!’ The eponymous project is organised in cooperation with youth centres in Berlin.

From 2011 to 2015 the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin organised the ideas contest ‘Make a Wish’, giving kids and teens a platform to explore and share their ideas, wishes, and visions of what youth offerings a museum should provide.

  • A participation fee is charged for the workshops and weekly courses.
  • Admission to the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is free for children and teens up to the age of 18.
  • Participants must register for all workshops and courses.
  • Registration is open until three business days before the beginning of the event.
