Thanks to a tactile model, blind and visually impaired visitors can familiarise themselves with the remarkable architecture of the Neue Nationalgalerie. The model introduces the glass façade itself, delicately structured with steel frames, as well as the building’s overall simplicity, clarity and outstanding materiality. The four materials so characteristic of the glass hall are represented with samples in the model (stone, wood, marble, steel).
The model’s roof can be removed during special tours. This allows visitors to understand the coffered ceiling structure as well as the interior of the hall. A 8-minute audio file accessible via QR code provides information on the building’s history and the major restoration carried out from 2015 to 2021.
