Education and Outreach Programmes for Children and Families

Various programmes are available for children and families. These offers encourage participants to explore exhibition topics together and to try out artistic strategies and forms of expression.

Workshops take place on weekends and during school breaks. They combine visits to exhibitions with educational and hands-on activities. Museum bags offer supplementary materials for families to explore the museums on their own.

At some venues, exhibition guides designed especially for children and families invite them to explore the museums independently. Taking the form of a participatory booklet, materials kit or a museum newspaper, these companion guides inspire and teach younger viewers how to look at works of art, as well as at historical and cultural objects.

There is a participation fee for families. Admission to the Staatliche Museen venues is free for children and teens under 18 years of age. Online booking is required for all workshops.

The publication Halbjahresprogramm Bildung und Vermittlung für Kinder und Familien 2/2020 als PDF (1,7 MB) (in German) is available for download. Our Newsletter Kinder und Familien (in German) keeps you up to date on current events and activities.
