The number of collections and institutes that make up the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin is great. It should not come as a surprise then that there are also a great many friends groups and trusts that support it.
Some groups date as far back as the 19th century (such as the Numismatische Gesellschaft zu Berlin, 1843, or the Kaiser Friedrich Museumsverein, 1897), while others are still very young, such as the Förderkreis des Museum Berggruen Berlin (2007). Some have fewer than one hundred members, others more than a thousand. But they all share one thing: they support the work of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin with tireless commitment, volunteering resources, and make an array of things possible that would otherwise be difficult or even impossible to achieve. Numerous events and acquisitions for the collections and institutions would be unthinkable without our friends groups and trusts.
