The Society of Friends of the Museum of Prints and Drawings
Berlin Graphic Society
Die Graphische Gesellschaft zu Berlin (Berlin Graphic Society) was founded in December 1997 as the Society of Friends of the Museum of Prints and Drawings in Berlin. The goal of the society is to continually promote the work of the Museum of Prints and Drawings, primarily through acquisitions and fundraising to enable the purchase of works of art but also by promoting exhibitions, events and scientific research within the disciplines relevant to the museum's collection. The Graphic Society's most important purchases, both of which were acquired on the recommendation of the director of the museum, include works by Franz Ackermann, Monika Brandmeier, Olafur Eliasson, Franz Gertsch, Arthur Köpcke, Julie Mehretu, Raymond Pettibon and Dieter Roth. In 2003, the museum received a generous donation of over 200 works on paper from Paul Maenz Gerd de Vries (Berlin) with the help of the Graphic Society.
