Alte Nationalgalerie
In 2006, the Old National Gallery (Alte Nationalgalerie) co-organized two research symposia:
- 2 - 4 March 2006: "Between Neo-Gothic and Classicism. Towards a Patriotic Architecture" (in cooperation with the Department of History of Art at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the BTU Cottbus)
- 16 - 18 November 2006: "Resemblance and Distortion - Breaking Boundaries in Portraiture" (in cooperation with the Department of History of Art at the Freie Universität Berlin)
Additionally, on 12 and 13 December 2006, the Old National Gallery organized a workshop on tear mending which taught restorers at the National Museums in Berlin about the most up-to-date techniques in this field.
The symposium "The Impact of Loan Traffic on Works of Art" (IOLT) was carried out together with the Rathgen Research Laboratory and the Kupferstichkabinett - Museum of Prints and Drawings. The publication of a record of the proceedings is in preparation.
Having completed the research on Lost Art and having recently published its Complete Catalogue of Sculptures, the National Gallery is currently carrying out intensive research on all those works of art which are held in its collection but whose provenance is as yet uncertain. The project, underway since 2006, aims at a complete catalogue of these works.
