FAGUA - Friends of Early European History and Archaeology
The 'Friends of Early European History and Archaeology' (FAGUA) was founded in October 2001 and is thus the youngest of all the societies of patrons of the National Museums in Berlin. As a classic museum society, FAGUA represents the interface between the museum as a public institution and the engagement of private citizens. By involving private energy, ideas and resources the society supports the work of the museum, helps to create a lobby and foster interest in the Museum for Pre- and Early History. Regular meetings are organised for the members of the society, where they are given the opportunity to view particularly excellent archaeological finds such as the 'Golden Hat of Berlin' or the 'Le Moustier Skull' without the constraints of a showcase.
One of the foremost goals of the society is to expand the collection through new acquisitions. The planned move of the Museum of Pre- and Early History to the Neue Museum in 2009 will be a considerable challenge for the Society of Friends.
