Hyper Cities
An exhibition of the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service) in co-operation with the Museum of Asian Art of the National Museums in Berlin
The focus of the exhibition is the experience of the big city as an urban landscape, as the site of spectacles and consumption, and as a place of radical social and architectural change. Funded by DAAD grants, twelve artists from Germany, Japan, China, and South Korea present photographs, video works and an installation conceived especially for this show. Their works reflect on aspects of identity and society, of tradition and progress in urban life in the face of the speediness of technological and cultural change in a globalised world.
