Museum Europäischer Kulturen
Thu 22 November 2007 - Sun 6 January 2008
Glittering cones, baubles in all variations, birds, fruit, and other shapes made of mica glass can be discovered on the Christmas tree in the foyer of the Museum of European Cultures. The light reflections on this dazzling glass array create an atmosphere of seasonal spirit. The majority of the Christmas tree decorations come from Lauscha, the glass-making city in the high Thuringian Forest, and were purchased for the museum almost exactly half a century ago. This year, a small Christmas mountain from Seiffen, advent calendars and advent houses, as well as incense smokers and candle angels from the Erz Mountains offer a glimpse of the museum's rich collection of objects illuminating German Christmas culture. Numerous educational events and the Market of the Continents accompany this seasonal exhibition in Dahlem.
