A first look at the lab

Anders zur Welt kommen: Das Humboldt-Forum im Schloss.

In this widely anticipated exhibition, the National Museums in Berlin, the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and the Central and Regional Library Berlin present key ideas for the institution they are about to share as the Humboldt Forum's three future users.

The Humboldt Forum, which will be housed in the reconstructed Berlin City Palace, is destined to be a place where art and the many cultures of the world meet one another. The various collections and research activities of the Ethnological Museum, the Museum of Asian Art, the Humboldt Universität and the Central and Regional Library Berlin will be able to let their unique diversity evolve in an interplay of science, the arts and education. In Berlin's historic Mitte district, a venue dedicated to the cultures of the world will arise, where the appreciation of art will rest alongside the examination of the chances and dangers of globalization. Three subject areas form the heart of the exhibition: the history of collecting, predominantly of non-European objects in Berlin and their subsequent treatment, the interpretation of exhibits from different perspectives and the relevance of current research, technologies and educational strategies by the institutions involved on the Humboldt Forum itself.
