Conference of the Bosch Research and Conservation Project (BRCP) at the Gemäldegalerie

The Gemäldegalerie was hosting a conference in collaboration with the Bosch Research and Conservation Project on 22 March 2012 about academic research on works by and after Hieronymus Bosch.

The BRCP research team will investigate Bosch's painting St. John the Evangelist on Patmos as well as a copy of Bosch's Last Judgment by Lucas Cranach the Elder.

Hieronymus Bosch's oeuvre remains to be thoroughly investigated to this day. It is unclear whether many of his paintings were in fact created in his workshop during his lifetime or whether they resulted from the enthusiasm for his work after his death.

The goal of the Bosch Research and Conservation Project (BRCP) is to investigate Bosch's countless pictures according to a consistent set of criteria and with the assistance of scientific analysis. Regular conferences are part of the project's programme. The Gemäldegalerie will host the project's contributors on 22 March 2012.
