Pergamonmuseum and Museum Berggruen remain open to visitors.

In response to misleading reports in the media: both Pergamonmuseum and Museum Berggruen are only partially closed - both remain open to visitors.

Pergamonmuseum: The large-scale renovations expected to last until 2025/26 are taking place in two separate stages, allowing the museum to stay open for the entire time, with only selected wings needing to close. The north wing has been closed since 2012. This will be followed in autumn 2014 by the closure of the galleries in the central wing (including the hall with the Pergamon Altar). By 2019, both north and central wings will have been renovated and facilities modernized. With the first stage completed, the south wing will then close for renovation and construction on the new fourth wing will commence.

Museum Berggruen: Due to defects in the roof construction, the Museum Berggruen's newly opened extension was forced to close in October 2013. The main building remains unaffected and is open to the public. Thanks to a rearranged, condensed hang, most of the works by Picasso, Matisse, and Giacometti are still on display.
