Subway: U Dahlem-Dorf (U3)

At the Dahlem-Dorf subway-station, there is a lift at the rear of the station to Fabeckstraße. From there, it is about 400 meters to the museum. The pavement is flat and even, with dropped kerbs to facilitate easy access.

All BVG buses are equipped with a manual ramp that is extended by the bus driver before entry and exit. From the bus stop, it is about 500 meters to the museum. The pavement is flat and even, with dropped kerbs to facilitate easy access.

Via Wheelmap you can find detailed information about wheelchair-accessibility.

On site

The exhibitions Cultural Contacts. Living in Europe and Buzzing Slovenia. Of Bees and People are accessible via a short ramp in the foyer. The Giant Mechanical Nativity Scene from the Ore Mountains and the exhibition Flow are accessible using a stair lift. Please contact a member of staff for assistance.

Unfortunately, the first floor with the exhibition ALL HANDS ON: Basketry is most easily accessible via the stairs. The lift to the first floor is located at the back of the building, but can only be used on certain days and at certain times under supervision of authorised personnel. Please contact our visitor services in advance to inquire about the possibilities for your visit.

Wheelchairs and prams are available for rent in the foyer.

Free admission is granted to designated caregivers accompanying a severely disabled visitor.

Nearly all of the audio-visual content in the permanent exhibition include subtitles in German. Our staff on site does not speak German Sign Language (DGS) or other sign languages.

Free admission is granted to designated caregivers accompanying a severely disabled visitor.

Several audio stations in the permanent exhibition provide information about the objects. The exhibitions ALL HANDS ON: Basketry and Flow also offer several hands-on stations.

Unfortunately, there is no tactile guidance system on the floor and no tactile plans. Information and texts in the exhibitions are not available in braille, nor are we able to provide audio guides.

The stairs in front of the building and inside the museum are equipped with handrails.

Assistance dogs are of course allowed.

Free admission is granted to designated caregivers accompanying a severely disabled visitor.

Toilets

Toilets are located on both sides of the foyer, with separate facilities for men and women. The wheelchair accessible toilet is our only all-gender toilet and is located on the right in the back of the foyer. It is accessible via the ramp. The toilet door opens with a switch.

Baby changing facilities are available in the accessible toilet.

Café

Our museum café is accessible by stair lift. Please contact a member of staff for assistance.

Unfortunately, the café currently has irregular opening times. Several other cafés can be found on Königin-Luise-Straße, about 500 metres from the museum.
