Education and outreach

At the Neues Museum, the Egyptian Museum and Papyrus Collection, the Museum of Prehistory and Early History, as well as the Collection of Classical Antiques offer a fascinating insight into early stages of human history. Visitors can explore the architecture of the building itself, or trace the origins and highlights of history and culture through various artefacts and treasures from many different eras – including such objects as a hand axe, Roman statues of the gods, art objects from the Bronze Age, and the bust of Nefertiti.

Audio guides, guided tours, and other activities provide background information and enhance individual visitors’ explorations of the museum. The museum also offers private guided tours. In booking your appointment, you can select a time as well as a topic that interests you.

Children can travel through time and pay visits to other cultures, and museum programming creates activities that engage all their senses: Young museum-goers can learn more about the ancient myths of the gods, decipher ancient runes or hieroglyphics, journey to the Egyptian realm of the dead, or find out what a hand axe was used for.

Since the museum was reopened to the public in 2009, it has hosted various types of concerts and dance performances that have created new dialogues with art, cultural treasures, as well as the architecture of the building itself.
