Installations and photographies by Gabriele Heidecker
from: 27.05.2005 to: 28.08.2005
Religion and myth are typical motifs in the contemporary art of South- and South-East Asia. The works of Gabriele Heidecker show the influence of such initially regional-specific trends on the European art scene.
This Berlin artist had earlier explored Indian philosophy and religion within the framework of the Festival of Germany in India, in her much discussed land-art project Red Lake Field in New Dehli.
With Gabriele Heidecker, the Museum of Indian Art presents the work of a German artist for the first time. Heidecker's works - installations, objects and photography - reflect contemporary tendencies in Asia and also contribute to a better understanding of classical Indian mythology and the traditional art of the Sub-continent.
