The General Directorate or group administration department of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin has its headquarters in the historical Villa Gontard on Stauffenbergstrasse, situated directly behind the Kulturforum and the Gemäldegalerie. In addition to the offices of the Director General, Prof. Dr. Michael Eissenhauer, and the Deputy Director General, Dr. Christina Haak, the building contains the offices of staff who perform cross-collection tasks for the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin as a whole, for example, in the fields of press and public communication, or publications and merchandising. Other general administration staff are located at other offices in the city, such as the Visitor Services department, which is responsible for visitor facilities and the museum-education programmes on offer at the individual museums.
