Education and outreach
How did the Roman emperors rule their empires? Who were the Etruscans? What kinds of celebrations did people have in the ancient world? Objects that illustrate ancient life and thought – including amphorae that were used as prizes in sporting competitions, masterful portrait busts, everyday objects, as well as statues of the gods – invite visitors to embark on voyages of discovery through the history, art, and culture of the Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans.
To enhance your exploration of these ancient worlds, the museum provides audio guides, guided tours, workshops, and other activities. In addition, media stations provide background information, and private tours can be booked – you can select both the time and the topic.
Children also have numerous ways to actively explore the museum’s collection: They can uncover the stories of the gods and heroes, try on ancient clothing, learn from Aphrodite how people in the ancient world dressed and adorned themselves, take a turn playing ancient games, and even create mosaics. They can dive into the world of ancient Greek theatre or unravel the mystery of why Emperor Hadrian had tombs built for his horses.
