Prior notice of groups & group bookings

Please notify us of all groups of 12 persons or more at least two weeks in advance of your proposed visit to the museum. This is required so that we can ensure that the museum rooms are not overcrowded and that your whole group will be admitted at the same time. A further advantage is that you will not have to queue to get in and do not have to buy your tickets in advance. Simply pay for the number of tickets that you actually need at the special group admission desks and use our special group entrances.
Reservations for group visits are free of charge.

Please note that groups without reservations may be denied entry.

Online reservation

Free admission for student groups
Students taking part in a course or seminar and accompanied by a lecturer may visit all of the museums at the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin free of charge.
You must, however, register your visit in advance and bring a letter of confirmation from your college or university with you to the museum. The letter should clearly state the date of the visit, the name of the course or seminar and the purpose of the visit.

Qualified tour guides accompany visitors on an exclusive tour through the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin. Is there a specific topic that you are interested in or a question that needs answering? On request, we can organize guided tours for children or young people, for example, or tours based on special themes or topics for professionals or other interested people. The number of participants per guided tour is limited (depending on the exhibition, max. 20 to 25 persons). Larger groups will be divided among several tour guides.

Museum services

The use of audio guides is included in the price of a ticket. If you require a large number of audio guides for your group, please let us know when you make your group reservation.
Audio guides are available at all museums (except for: Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart – Berlin and Neue Nationalgalerie) in both German and English. Many museums offer other languages too.

There are cafés and restaurants at many of the SMB’s museums that also welcome groups. If you are planning on visiting with a larger group and would like to reserve a table, please contact the respective café operators. You can find their telephone numbers on the homepages of each museum.

For security reasons, larger bags and backpacks may not be taken into the museum. Free cloakrooms and lockers are available at all museums. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to accommodate luggage or travel baggage.

Please allow enough time for the cloakroom so that you can be at your meeting point (admissions desk/information) at the appointed time.

The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin hire out rooms and lecture halls for special events to external parties too. All details are taken care of by the event company Museum&Location.
